With every passing year, it seems more and more people are suffering from smoking related illnesses, prompting an urge for people to quit. But quitting is not nearly as easy as it may seem. Quitters typically go through intense stages of withdrawals, casuing nervousness and overwhelming anxiety.
But recent research shows there is a natural way to ease the cravings and anxiety related to quitting smoking. According to MassageTherapy.com, performing self massage can be enough to ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawals, such as the anxiety that usually requires a “fix”.
Some think that doing self-massage, the smoker’s hands are kept busy, thus reducing the need to hold a cigarette or smoke. Either way, it is a safe, all natural and therapeutic method to relieve the stresses of quitting – Just one more way massage has proved itself to the field of medicine.

We have officially entered the season for colds, runny noses, and an overall feeling of being rundown. But you need not worry because here are some great ideas put forth by the Massage Therapy Journal to improve immunity and ward off sickness.
1 Massage
Massage is a great way to relieve stress, which is a large component to the “run down” feeling we sometimes get, and makes it hard for our bodies to remain healthy. Even a couple minutes of self massage can be beneficial and rejuvenating.
2. . Exercise
By working out, you are quickening the process of toxin removal that your body is otherwise doing. Not to mention making sure your heart is in good shape, lowering chances of diseases, and losing excess weight.
Studies have shown that when compared, people who exercise regularly have a much lower rate of illness over those who are sedentary .
3. Get enough sleep
Not reaching your nightly quota for rest has major affects on one’s attitude, and on their levels of stress. Remember how when you’re sick, you sleep more than usual? Well maintaining a good level of sleep can prevent the illness in the first place.
4. Connect with others
Feelings of loneliness and depression are also triggers for becoming sick. Try connecting with others by volunteering, joining a group, or reaching out to a friend.
5. Be Kind to Yourself
Being angry or sad definitely takes a toll on the body, adding unnecessary stress to one’s life. Instead of dwelling on past events or current problems, take a little “me” time to yourself. Try doing something you enjoy that can help blow off steam or give you some piece of mind.
