Massage as a necessity
While many think of massage as a luxury, it is being considered more and more of a health necessity. Massage is more frequently being incorporated into workout regimes and health plans, for good reason. Well known benefits of massage include better circulation, relaxation, and relief for tension, but sports enthusiasts believe that the benefits range much further for active people and athletes. Massage increases muscle flexibility, aids in muscle recovery time, and promotes more efficient workouts.
Deep tissue is a style massage that penetrates the deepest layers of muscle in the body. It is primarily used for relief of muscle tension and restoring healthy function. Because it helps reduce inflammation and also breaks up scar tissue, deep tissue massage is great to recieve after an accident or injury.
Sports massage is usually used for promotion of better performance in athletics or exercise. It primarily focuses on injury prevention, flexibility, and reducing swelling. Sports massage is a more vigorous style massage, whereas other styles will use long relaxing strokes on the muscles. Any area can be targeted in sports massage, depending on the goal trying to be attained.
