insurance News from Ballaura Wellness Spa

Hello!

I wanted to introduce myself and share helpful updates on using your insurance for massage therapy. As you may know, we no longer bill directly to major medical insurance. However, we continue to provide the following services:

We bill for PIPs and L&Is (Personal Injury Protection and Department of Labor & Industries). PIPs are typically coverage with your auto insurance and covers medical costs in the event of an accident which often includes massage. Let us know you have an active claim and we can work with your insurance directly to have your massages covered. In WA state, ALL L&I claims for on-the-job injuries get 6 massage therapy visits with no pre-authorization required. You just need a prescription from your case manager, the initial doctor who helped you fill out your L&I claim. If your injury requires additional treatment, I will work with your massage therapist to request additional massages until your injury has healed or L&I no longer approves treatment.

We accept HSAs and FSAs (Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Savings Accounts). These are typically workplace benefits used for health care expenses, including massage. You can use those handy savings accounts to pay for your massages!

We assist you in the process in self-billing major medical insurance. We recommend calling your insurance first to make sure they accept reimbursement requests that cover massage therapy and confirm what forms they require. You can also ask if you need a referral or prescription from your healthcare provider. Generally, you need three things to request reimbursement for your out-of-network medical services: 1) Reimbursement form; 2) Invoice; and 3) Receipt. After your massage, let us know that you are billing out-of-network, and we will provide you with the paperwork. You’ll complete the forms, mail required documentation to your insurance, and they’ll send the reimbursement directly to you.

We work with your lawyer in lawsuits and settlements. If you are working with a law office to receive medical benefits, have your lawyer contact us for instructions on receiving compensation. This may be by billing your insurance, billing the other party’s insurance or is the law office going to reimburse us at settlement. In these cases, you would want to contact me at medicalmassage@ballaura.com to make sure we can meet your needs.

Insurance with Massage Membership

To maximize your benefits with any of the above, we recommend combining your benefits with a Ballaura Massage Membership. It’s a great way to save even more!

We want to support you on your journey toward well-being. Please contact me at medicalmassage@ballaura.com for additional support in accessing your insurance benefits for massage. These massages need to be scheduled with a spa coordinator as we do not schedule them online.

Live well,

Alison Waters
